There are a lot of businesses that have sunk a large sum of money and time into creating an attractive, informative website that no one ever sees. Research has shown that over 80% of potential customers that are “ready to buy”, and searching the internet for a local business won’t look past the 1st page of search results. Furthermore … the 2nd page of search results gets virtually all of the remaining traffic … If your website shows up on the 3rd page or farther of the search results your website is virtually invisible! There are a number of factors that could be holding your website back, often times making a few minor changes can improve your websites ranking and make the task of advancing in the search engine results easier.
The most important words on your webpage or blog are the title, and the opening line! Both should contain keywords relevant to your particular industry, and your geographic location. That is what your potential buyers will be looking for … industry or product, and location!
Another common error that will hold a website back is the failure to use the most relevant keywords. Don’t emphasize words that a knowledgeble professional would use, instead choose keywords or a phrase that a lay person would use to find your company.
Use both singular and plural forms of your keywords … for example don’t just use “Lawyer” or “A/C Contractor”, make certain you also use “Lawyers” or “A/C Contractors”, and if you are only going to use one version of you keyword use the plural, Google will find the word “Lawyer” in a search for “Lawyers”, but, it won’t be able to find the word “Lawyers” in a search for “Lawyer” (missing an “s”).
